Manifold Wire
A downloadable game
Manifold Wire is a prototype fleet-combat wargame I threw together, after having a brainwave while discussing the upcoming Lancer: Battlegroup project (from Massif Press) on the Lancer discord:
What if players fought, not in 3D space, but in phase space? The physics model for dynamic systems, where every point on the graph corresponds to a position and speed?
The game wrote itself over the course of a few days.
- Two fleets wheel into a linear corridor of death
- Ships build up speed to zip towards the enemy fleet and back
- Speed differences also creates "distance" in the targeting map, both mechanically and visually.
The actual ships and combat mechanics are a bare minimum implementation I threw together to see the engine in action. The game is currently just a prototype, with no current plans to expand it... but that may change depending on feedback and enthusiasm from testers.
If you want to contact me and provide feedback, you can find me on the #game-design-discussion channel of Pilot NET (the Lancer discord). I'm Winged#1414, the Administrator. You can also find the game's raws here.
Good hunting, Commander <3
